Proposed Tax Levy Hearing information

Proposed Tax Levy Hearing Information

This is the hearing notice for the proposed tax levy. The major difference between last year and the proposed year is the debt service which includes the payment for the loan for the Keystone Bridge. For a property with a taxable valuation of $100,000 they will see an increase of about $193 from the City’s levy.

For the budget process for FY 26 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026) the state requires the County Auditor to mail information to each property owner.

This information provided by the Iowa Department of Management helps explains the mailing.

This link takes you to a page that allows you to project your property tax bill.  However, please note this model uses a 110% increase in valuation and that may not apply to your property.

This information helps explain the proposed property tax levy.

This Property Tax Assessment information is from the Iowa League of Cities and gives a good overview of the property tax system in Iowa.
