September 16, 2022 UPDATE:

Carter Street NW to the intersection of Davidson St/Haven’s Drive (the hospital intersection) will open this evening. Phase 4 of Carter Street NW, from the intersection to the city limits, will be open to regular traffic in 1-2 weeks. Right now only those residents who live on this section of Carter Street can use it.

December 3, 2021 UPDATE:

Construction has concluded for this season. Crews will begin working in the spring when weather allows. Work for the spring will include completing the utility work in the intersection and down Haven’s Driver and completing Phase 4.

April 14, 2021 UPDATE: 

JB Holland Construction, from Decorah, has been awarded the contract for the Carter Street Rehab Project.

They plan to begin work on April 26, 2021 (or soon thereafter depending upon the weather).

The rehab project includes replacement of water main, sanitary sewer main, new storm sewer main and replacement of pavement and will encompass both blocks of Carter Street.

The work will be divided into several different STAGES. They will start with Phase 1 and residents will be notified as they progress through the phases. View Staging Plan

For most of the project, traffic will be detoured on Davidson Street if it is hospital traffic, and on First Street if it is non-hospital traffic. During this process we ask that agriculture related traffic (tractors, trucks with anhydrous, floaters, etc. use Edgewood Road to Hwy 56 to get to town.)  View Detour Plan
