Join Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls for the 2025 grand tour of the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area. August’s destination will be a visit to the Ice House Museum in Cedar Falls. Please meet at Osborne Park at 9:30 to carpool to our destination.

This O.W.L.S. adventure will take you to Cedar Falls to tour the Ice House Museum, a round structure built in 1921 to hold 16 million pounds of ice. The Museum is the only one in the U.S. that tells the story of ice harvesting in an original ice house! Join us the 3rd Thursday of each month, March through November, for O.W.L.S., Older Wiser Livelier Souls. Each month will feature a new Silos and Smokestacks Site, so join us as we explore more of the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area. 

Reservations are required. Reserve your spot today by calling (563) 245-1516 or visit the Osborne Nature Center.  Osborne Nature Center is located on HWY 13 five miles south of Elkader. The center is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Saturday, and Sunday noon-4pm. For more information on events visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org.
