DESCRIPTION:Embrace your Irish spirit and join us on Sunday\, March 17th in downtown Elkader for a St. Patrick’s Day parade!  \nNo registration needed.\nLine-up at 2pm starting at Peace Church on N. Main Street in Elkader and go towards the school.\nFirst come\, first serve!\n(please note – the parade is on a Sunday this year) \n \n  \nRegarding parking: \n\nWe’re anticipating a large crowd and with that\, we need to make sure everyone celebrates safely.\n\n\nSpecial traffic/parking restrictions will begin at 12:00 noon on North and South Main Street. We will again be implementing a “soft closure” at that time to allow shoppers to finish up and without confusing everyone with a bunch of details\, we’ll try to make it as simple as we can:\n* If you see a barricade or cones in your lane of traffic\, that’s for you and you are restricted from entering that area. Please\, don’t go around them.\nAny new\, incoming traffic along the parade route will not be able to enter. (We’ve included parking options on this post for you to use.)\n\n\nAt 2:00 pm! – *ALL vehicles still parked on Main Street\, starting from Davis Street (Elementary side of school) all the way down to Founder’s Park (all of S. Main Street)\, must be moved by 2:00 pm!\n\n\nThe parade will include oversized equipment and we must have the route clear of all parking along the route. This year’s theme is “NEIA Farm and Ag Tour”\, and March’s program will be a visit to the Dummermuth Historical Buildings at Elgin Iowa. Please meet at Osborne Park at 10:15 to carpool to our destination. \nAre you looking for an excuse to get out of the house\, meet new friends and enjoy a meal while you learn about our area? Join us the 3rd Thursday of each month\, March through November\, for O.W.L.S.\, Older Wiser Livelier Souls. March’s tour will be of the Dummermuth Historical Buildings which preserve farm and home antiques from the 1890’s-1920’s. The tour will include the Hart Dummermuth Historical Home which has been set up to depict a turn of the century farm home\, the Mavis and Conner Dummermuth Historical Building which houses a large collection of farm and pioneer equipment and then the reconstructed timber sawmill. \nReservations are required.
