Grab your work gloves and bring the family down to help. The benefit to the community is huge! DESCRIPTION:Older\, Wiser\, Livelier\, Souls \n*Wednesday\, April 27th \n* normal day of week change \nReservations Required \n The next Older\, Wiser\, Livelier\, Souls program will be on Wednesday\, April 27th.  This year’s theme is “Discover our Museums”\, and April’s event will be a road trip to Le Claire\, Iowa to explore the Buffalo Bill Museum and Antique Archaeology. \nThis season we will feature museum adventures throughout Northeast Iowa to reconnect to our amazing and historic part of Iowa while we learn a little and have some fun.  Upcoming sites planned include the Garnavillo Museum\, Lidtke Mill\, and the Porter House Museum.  As in the past\, there will be a lunch option after each event. \nThe shuttle will leave Osborne Park at 9:00a.m.  Reservations are required\, and seating is limited\, so reserve your spot at 245-1516. \nOsborne Nature Center is located on HWY 13 five miles south of Elkader. The center is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm\, Monday-Friday.  \n \n

SUMMARY:Megafloods and Mighty Rivers on the Upper Midwest
DESCRIPTION:Geomorphology – the study of landscapes – contributes to our understanding of the Upper Midwest and the histories of its mighty rivers\, the Mississippi\, the Minnesota\, the Missouri\, and their tributaries.  These modern rivers surround the Iowan Erosion Surface (IES) landform region\, with its enigmatic geomorphology and sediments.  Many features of the Silurian Escarpment and the IES resemble those that have been identified and described at other locations as subjected to megaflooding related to sudden drainage of glacial lakes. \nDr. Kathryn McCarville will share her research\, including new interpretations of local geology thanks to advancements in geologic dating technology\, in this fascinating presentation hosted by Clayton County Conservation. This program is free and welcome to all ages. \nThe Osborne Center is located in Highway 13\, ten miles north of Strawberry Point or five miles south of Elkader.  The center winter hours are from 8:00am to 4:00pm\, Monday-Friday.
