DESCRIPTION:Join Older\, Wiser\, Livelier\, Souls for the 2025 grand tour of the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area. July’s destination will be a visit to the Amana Colonies. Please meet at Osborne Park at 9:15 to carpool to our destination. \nThis O.W.L.S. adventure will take you to tour several of the colony’s attractions to learn about these fascinating villages steeped in German heritage. Join us the 3rd Thursday of each month\, March through November\, for O.W.L.S.\, Older Wiser Livelier Souls. Each month will feature a new Silos and Smokestacks Site\, so join us as we explore more of the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area. \nReservations are required. Reserve your spot today by calling (563) 245-1516 or visit the Osborne Nature Center.  Osborne Nature Center is located on HWY 13 five miles south of Elkader. Join us as we remember Lee by unveiling a memorial plaque in his honor on Saturday July 26th at 3:30. \nLee could often be found at the mill working on different specialty projects over the years. Lee was an avid craftsman who dedicated countless hours to the Motor Mill Foundation. Most recently he completed the basement platform so visitors could view the location of the turbines unearthed in the 2020 sediment removal project. Lee always brought a smile to those he greeted through his knowledge\, stories\, and gift for connecting with people.
