DESCRIPTION:Iowa Bioblitz 2022 will bring together citizen scientists across the state to observe as many species as possible during the 1st week in May. Lend us a hand here in Clayton County as we attempt to find\, identify and record as many species as possible during this statewide effort. Come learn how on Monday\, May 2nd at 5:30 at Osborne Park when we will pair technology and ecology using the iNaturalist app. \nA Bioblitz is period of intense biological sampling designed to document as many living things as possible in a specified area. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a naturalist as we survey mammals\, birds\, reptiles\, amphibians\, fish\, plants\, insects and more at Osborne Park. Learn how to use the free app\, iNaturalist\, as we record all our findings for the 2022 Bioblitz. The Bioblitz will last all week\, so after learning how\, you will be able to add more findings to the project on your own throughout the week at any natural area of your choice.. \nDownload iNaturalist ahead of time if you know how and bring your phone or electronic device to join us.  Please register for the event at 245-1516. The Osborne Center is located on Highway 13\, five miles south of Elkader. \n

SUMMARY:Osborne Disc Golf Open
DESCRIPTION:Clayton County Conservation in partnership with the Turkey River Recreational Corridor is pleased to be hosting the 2022 Osborne Disc Golf tournament on Saturday\, May 14th\, at the Osborne Park disc golf course. Rain date will be one week later\, May 21st. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM with same-day registration opening at 8:30. Registration is $20\, and participants can buy in to a $2 “Ace Fund” that will pay out to anyone hitting a hole in one. Cash prizes will be awarded to male and female winners\, and all participants will be entered in a raffle prize drawing.\nThis 18-hole tournament is open to all ages and skill levels. The one-of-a-kind course features long prairie shots and short technical throws through the woods. What better way to spend a Saturday morning? Registration forms are available now\, with links and more information on our website and Facebook page. SUMMARY:Older\, Wiser\, Livelier\, Souls
DESCRIPTION:The next Older\, Wiser\, Livelier\, Souls program will be on Thursday\, May 26th.  This year’s theme is “Discover our Museums”\, and May’s event will be a visit to Garnavillo\, Iowa to explore their Historical Society Museum. \nThis season we will feature museum adventures throughout Northeast Iowa to reconnect to this amazing and historic part of Iowa while we learn a little and have some fun.  May’s visit will help us explore Clayton County’s past with a visit to learn why Garnavillo is the Gem of the Prairie at the Garnavillo Historical Society Museum. Upcoming sites planned include the Lidtke Mill\, Dyersville\, and the Porter House Museum. \nThe shuttle will leave Osborne Park at 10:30 a.m.  Reservations are required\, and seating is limited\, so reserve your spot at 245-1516. As in the past\, there will be a lunch option after each event. \n  \n \nOsborne Nature Center is located on HWY 13 five miles south of Elkader.
